Six or seven months ago, one of my friends at work told me she was pregnant. There was great excitement about it. She is one of those people who will make an amazing mom.
A couple of months later she went for a scan and came back to the office shaking... she was pregnant with twins! We bought cake to celebrate and help her calm down, but I don't think she got much work done that day :)
As the time drew nearer to the 8 month mark the mom and babies were closely monitored and in fact ended up having an emergency C-Section. The smallest baby wasn't breathing when he arrived into the world but he was successfully resusitated.
Unfortunately the twins were identical and had twin-to-twin transfer. This meant the blood was going through the smaller baby to his brother, but the smaller baby wasn't keeping enough nutrients for himself. Two days later the little one passed away. On Friday I attended his funeral.
It was so sad but at the same time SUCH an incredible testimony. His dad talked and explained what had happened and said that we mustn't look for someone to blame or question why God allowed this to happen. God loves children and this little one has gone to be with Him.
It was amazing watching the love that the husband and wife had for one another and the support they gave one another. The tragedy brought them even closer instead of pulling them apart as sometimes happens. There were about 30 work colleagues there and I was so greatful that they could see such a living example of the hope that Christians have, faith in action and such love. More than one person remarked on the love that was so clearly visible.
I actually felt privileged to have experienced something so amazing - that in tragedy God is so clearly at work. Wow.
