Thunder and Lightning

We had an extremely hectic electric storm last night. It started off rather sneakily... there was lightning all around for about half an hour without accompanying thunder. It was rather freaky because if your curtains were closed you may not have seen it but it was constant.

Then the storm intensified with the bigger lightning and thunder. It would have been madness to go outside.

We pulled out all the plugs that we could and waited it out. The neighbours house alarm had been going off for about an hour but there was nothing they could do about it because they were out and it was too dangerous for them to drive home.

Our other neighbours lights suddenly went off as their lights must have tripped. Same thing happened to my boyfriends house. It was really scarey. Made me really grateful that I had decent house and protection against the elements. Imagine living in a shack on a night like that? Or even being camping in a tent? Let's just say if I was camping, I would have got in my car and driven somewhere safer.

One of the people at church had lightning strike their phone line. It went through the phone line to the modem of the computer and blew the computer up. By the time they got to the room where the computer was, the flash was still lighting the computer up.

Apparently ONE bolt of lightning could provide enough electricity to Joburg for 3 months. Scary thought.

And this is the God I worship. How awesome is His power?
