Mark 14 - Judas and Me

I've been reading through the gospel of Mark and today I was struck by Judas Iscariot.
He knew Jesus, spent time with him, heard him preaching, saw his miracles, perhaps even did miracles himself, yet he betrayed Jesus to death, death on a cross.
We know that Judas committed suicide over what he did, however we don't know whether he was saved when he died, whether he just felt guilty about what he did or whether he repented etc. But the point of this post is not whether Judas was saved or not.
The point that stood out to me is that in spite of all the above, it didn't automatically make Judas a Christian.
By the same token it doesn't make us a Christian by believing in God's existence, going to church and hearing preaching, doing great things for God etc. It is all about having a relationship and putting yourself under God and not going your own way. It is "loving the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength and with all your mind. "

That verse is also from Mark and I would like it to be my "new year's resolution"
